Seems like someone would really need to be out of touch with recent news to willingly install a facebook portal in their house. It seems cool in the surface, but you just know they are doing some shady stuff

@jerry because they don't realize companies like facebook, google and windows are forming the "matrix" they may not be using your bodies electricity yet but they are feeding off of you every way possible.

@jerry Obviously, everyone on facebook is "out of touch with recent news". that´s the problem.

@jerry That is the crux of the issue. On the surface the technology powering the device is amazing. It is what Facebook is and is not doing with the data behind the scenes that is the scary part.

@jerry This smells like the HTC First/"the Facebook smartphone" that flopped in 2013...

@jerry I just recently deleted my FB account once and for all, and it feels so damn good. But what is so worrisome is that the majority of people I talk to about FB act like I’m wearing a tin-foil hat—or they just play the nothing-to-hide card. It’s odd how ambivalent we’ve all become about surveillance =\

@jerry From the ads, it's very very clear that the target market for Portal is people unfamiliar/uncomfortable with computers. The kind of person who thinks not knowing how to use a computer is a cute personality trait and something to brag about. You know, old people.
