Surprisingly enough, my macOS Mojave with Finder windows + Preview app + a few tabs in Firefox (regular websites, Soundcloud, Mastodon) + Terminal.app + a document in Pages + settings app is only using about a GB of RAM. It's not Snow Leopard levels of efficiency but not far off.

@algorev the sad thing is that it only applies to (most?) Cocoa apps and because of that many third-party software (particularly that written in Electron or custom toolkits) mostly makes those improvements irrelevant

@espectalll I'm here with the Rider IDE, Tilix a python server running and 2 Firefox tabs (Gitlab and Mastodon) at 5.69Gb on Manjaro KDE 😢

@espectalll That is good to know. Have a 2012 macbook pro 13" with 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD so hoping it runs smoothly.
