       @kel not that I agree with hochschild on everything but I’m pretty sure she used it to describe motherhood... I don’t think I’ve heard her object to it’s current usages. I see a lot of upper clsss people on twitter and tumblr use it tho and I think I know what you mean

My problem is however with the decontextualization of her original critique, and how she uses alienated labor in order to describe it, while the strange appropriations in social media circles of such a term lacks this immanent feature in lieu of simply deriding emotions as exhausting
