@ky0ko I made the mistake of upgrading to Pie last night. Spent 30 min fighting with that clock monstrosity, then gave up and installed a launcher (Evie Launcher, fwiw).

@Mateo @ky0ko google forcibly puts the search bar on the bottom of every screen, and reserves a lot of space for a small time widget at the top of the first screen.it really feels like google goes out of their way to pick the worst parts of iphones, and implements them poorly.

@phessler @ky0ko I just checked and they're not releasing pie for my phone anyway, so it's a moot point but I feel like they've been slow to put in features that would be preferable (like the blue light filter which first came to most android in Pie), but instead went for things to make the phone look more iOS-like.

@ky0ko @phessler depends on the phone - for Moto it's not, and wasn't going to be until Pie, which I won't have. It's not the end of the world, of course. Just odd that certain features don't come as part of stock, which is always something I found confounding about Google overall.ChromeOS, for example, now has it and most Chromebooks should too. Why not Android devices?

@ky0ko @phessler which phone? On the Z it's not a feature, and that was their flagship for '16. My children also have Moto phones (the E series) and don't have them there.

@ky0ko @phessler the only moto settings I see are non-blue light related, interestingly. So that's something.

@ky0ko @phessler it's just...not there. *rants about phone companies locking out certain features and not properly implementing the full feature set while walking away and shaking my head*
