       Individualism is incompatible with sustainability. Consumption economics is incompatible with sustainability. We'll need to strip way back to basics if we want civilization to be sustainable. Start loving each other instead of surrounding ourselves with expensive distractions. Start living in larger family groups. Start restructuring cities and neighborhoods to be efficient in the fulfillment of human needs. Abandon most industries as pointless make-work. It might take 20 years or 100 but we have to

       @thewumblesAustrian economics doesn't give an alternative to consumerist economics. It just describes it differently and has different ways of keeping it from collapsing.As for education and self respect, well, how does that make public transport more viable? The problem is that modern lifestyles are not sustainable. Humans cannot live like this forever. We're in severe resource debt.
