I may be banned from here for saying this, but...I prefer Chrome over Firefox.

@erikstl that's great, but do you prefer a web with only chrome?

@erikstli can understand. i'm pretty frustrated with the firefox interface alone. it is a dumpster fire. it is still the best browser in my opinion. just not so good for the google services. they feel snappier in chrome because of the quic protocol under the hood.

@hansbauer @erikstl not just Quic. They still have much better engines. V8 is still unbeatable in most cases, and blink did as well, last time I've looked.I guess they can get better engineers, but also sacrifice some standards compliance for perf, like quic.Mozillians sometimes want to make things perfect.

@zladuric@erikstli don't know if the people from mozilla are still the perfectionist of the old days. I feel they are not, but i may be wrong. the scenario is pretty unbalanced with engines. google is a behemoth and is imposing their way of doing things at a much higher pace than the competition. this is not healthy, but i'm sure it is not the end of the world. i have the feeling that this situation will saturate and something new and better will come.

@hansbauer @zladuric @erikstl Maybe the word you are looking for is Servo.

@hansbauer @zladuric @erikstl Okay, maybe an URL can help.https://servo.org/Firefox today is great, better than Chrome in my opinion, UI is great also, but the real perfectionist/innovative thing is Rust and Servo. This takes time but the promise is there.

@lorabe @hansbauer @erikstl @zladuric Well, it has been the best browser… while you could actually choose what to put in your toolbars, while foxyproxy didn’t have a remark like “you’ll have to do this shit because they fucked up the engine”… while disabling shit like pocket, hello and telemetry didn’t take half an hour… and while it didn’t madden old add-on developers, that refused to create new versions, for they were already fed up with FF devs. wJ92qo0l.jpg

@lorabeit is a shadow of what it was and it is becoming increasingly inconsistent in many aspects. not really sure what happened to mozilla. @tija @zladuric @erikstl
