@zey Buy AMD GPUsAs for this hardware, you'll need to install the proprietary Nvidia drivers methinks that could be the issueI've always had hellish nightmare zone times with nvidiaThey call it No Video for a reason etc etc etv

@zey Nvidia's cards are like glass cannons They are the best cards that are being made, but they only work when they want to and if the moon is just right in the sky and the winds blow just right and a rock on the moon is angled at 45 degrees on a tuesday

@Ocean22 @zey can't help you here, I don't use nvidia hardware or nonfree driversI do know that some cards need a particular kernel parameter set, 'nomodeset', to prevent black screens and other issueshow to do this depends on what is actually loading the kernel, can't help more while I'm at work

@dax @zey YES nomodeset would help if the intaller was fucked like I claimed hereBut they've gotten to to properly install it just keeps crashing so I'm assuming it's a driver thing

@Ocean22 @zey https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132scroll down to "How to temporarily set kernel boot options on an installed OS (not wubi)"and add 'nomodeset' to the end of the kernel parameter list as directed

@Ocean22 @zey just so you know, it explains why you have to do this in the post, and it explains that it's *usually* only needed for nouveau drivers:"Note that this option is sometimes needed for nVidia cards when using the default "nouveau" drivers. Installing proprietary nvidia drivers usually makes this option no longer necessary, so it may not be needed to make this option permanent, just for one boot until you installed the nvidia drivers."

@zey @Ocean22 yeah, nomodeset turns off any of the fancy visuals outside of an X server, once you're in a proper desktop environment it'll be fine
