The fediverse doesn't feel as fresh and free a space as it did when I first joined it. I'm starting to feel a groupthink developing here, just like there is on reddit, tumblr, etc. It's still a fun place to be, but I'm seeing the same ideas & memes on my timeline. Kinda wishing there was an option to toggle off the feed for some days.

In the beginning when I made an account here, I felt this great rush, like, yes! Finally I’ve found a place where I can start from scratch and share/explore/express my authentic self. But lately, I've noticed the more I use the fediverse, the more I think like the fediverse. I mostly parrot other people's opinions on my profile and become influenced by their ideas, which is the same dynamic I had with Twitter, tumblr, & reddit. Idk if this is just me or something intrinsic to social media.

@aadilayub Personally I think most of the changes I went through came from me finding more things to do IRL.But fundamentally to me the fediverse has always been the place which actually appreciates, rather than gets annoyed by, my fascination with knowing how computers work and wanting to share that knowledge.

@emsenn @alcinnz I think I've been here since July. Roughly half a year.

@aadilayub @alcinnz wow i definitely would've guessed both of you had been here longer than me but i've been here i think 13 months. (so maybe alcinnz and i around the same time.)I actually was thinking earlier today how little the fediverse feed i see has changed though i now follow like 500 people. but i never check local or the federated timeline, and talk more than i read.

@emsenn @aadilayub I boost plenty, looking for interesting conversations. And ofcourse I talk plenty out of the blue. But I'm sad to say I seem to be the main one on my local timeline (I'm not too interested in the federated one), which means it's usually not that useful.
