"We have to crush Google with state authority because it's a monopoly"Economy University student told me this and "debated" me for an hour about it.Appearently I'm a corporate shill for calling the customers of google stupid for not looking for alternatives in the first place. He identifies as "authoritarian right" as far as I know. I don't really have anything to add but maybe you people have something to say instead. Good night for now though.

All of this is very surreal to me since I'm the one not using google products here. And when I say "but you use them" he jsut assumes it's "rational" since theyre the best there is. Therefore it's a monopoly. Mate I call that being ignorant at best.

@igeljaeger It's rational that they are the best, but it's also rational that they aren't the only search engine. Isn't it also rational if your entire internet footprint is going via a single company is a cause for concern? Maybe he should set up a presentation with sources on the subject. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/12/technology/personaltech/ethical-tech-consumer.html

@deletionism he should know what monopoly means. And google isn't one. If everyone would start using the alternatives, they'd go bankrupt.
