It gets progressively easier to move around the more weight I lose, but I can also tell that there is no such thing as a free lunch: With reduced weight and minimal exercise comes reduced muscle mass. Even at my current weight, little back aches and pains don't magically disappear and will probably have to be mitigated with moderate strength training at some point.Going to the gym is extremely unrewarding to me, so for the sake of my own health, I should probably be living in a wooden cabin with no heating and water to force me to carry buckets of water and chop wood regularly in order to keep in shape...

@thor I'd highly recommend swimming as an alternative to going to the gym, much easier on the body (no muscle aches, ever) and a lot more fun.Of course that relies on there being a public pool or some other hole with water in it being available.

@reactor Well, one benefit of Norway is that there is a lot of water, and many public pools, since learning to swim and performing water rescue is part of the public school curriculum.

@thorWhen we started strength training we got a set of free weights so we could work out at home. Adjustable plate weights and a basic bench will take you far. I also don't like the gym.
