I wonder what would happen if I only make content available at the outbox endpoint, but never push to followers' inboxesWill other ActivityPub servers ever query for updates?

@scarlett @wersimmon actually generally no. They might still end up there by fetching, but it has to be initiated by something, like a fav or a repost.

@lain Does Activitypub use something, like webhooks to fetch updates from server to server? @scarlett @wersimmon

@lain damn... If only it would be that easy. I figured I'd need to initiate the federation by POSTing to an inbox, though. That will be the one manually triggered pieceI could automate that with an RSS watcher, though@scarlett

@succfemboi @scarlett @wersimmon no, it relies on people posting stuff to the inbox, usually.

@wersimmon @scarlett although now that i think of it, we can actually make it work without http signatures...

@lain @scarlett how so? Isn't a signature a critical piece of the post?

@wersimmon @scarlett if an activity comes in without a signature, we can just make it fetch that activity from the source. this won't work for private posts, but it will for public ones.
