@ibrokemypie it's a type of software used for making music.they're a bit dated, they came along before the "daw" systems (digital audio workstations) that are used a lot nowi use a proprietary (but gratis) tracker to make most of my musicand i'd like to have similar software, that is free and open source

@ky0ko @ibrokemypie trackers main difference from DAWs is that trackers use hexadecimal values in a scrolling list to visualise keyboard notes, expression, sustain, effects, etc.Not as user friendly but it does the job and kept the performance requirements down back in the day.

@ky0ko @ibrokemypie Ah, that's cool then (missed the "gratis" part lol). Anyway what do you think you'll be targeting, specs wise? Like 8 channels with arbitrary filters or do you have something more in mind

@alice @ibrokemypie the way sunvox works does not have set channel limits, it takes the tracker concept and basically removes all the excessively restrictive bitsit, for example, has a modular synthesizer where instruments and filters are represented as boxes that you wire togetherpatterns are visually represented as objects you can label and drag around

@ky0ko sunvox is wonderful but it really is a shame about the closed source part
