Diaspora and Pleroma are both kind of funny names because of their strangely Abrahamic roots. One implies a connection of scattered peoples, the other implies the unity of divine powers.

@deadsuperhero I'd like to see more software names drawing on other traditions. Preferably at least equally semi-obscurely.

@feonixrift Absolutely. I wish there was an easy way to discover these kinds of terms.

@deadsuperhero You'd think I'd be more aligned with Diaspora, but ...My variety of seperatism is "Left Seperatism."Granted, I am only basing that on some of the ... as much as I hate to use the word Troll, a lot of noteably nonsensically right wing posts there. Also hard to get by as a female programmer there.

@LWFlouisa Yeah, unfortunately some of the content quality has gone significantly downhill, and most development is done by a small core team of contributors who have been doing it for years.I think there are some very good contributions coming in from new people, though, so I feel a little bit better about the state of development. But you're not wrong.

@LWFlouisa Deep down, I hope that once Minds.com starts federating, it can act as a lunatic honeypot that all the idiot fringe troll people on Diaspora will flock to.

@futureBoyfriend @Kim Reece Osada means "gypsy community", alluding to its secondary role of linking the ActivityPub and nomadic Zot6 universes. It's primary role is simply to be a kick-ass ActivityPub server in the Facebook [rather than the Twitter] tradition. I realise the Roma people aren't very popular in some circles, but hopefully people will look past that association and understand that nomadic communities are a well tested survival method in the face of global change.

@mike Hey Mike, your response showed up as a URL here, rather than content. Was that intentional?

@futureBoyfriend Osada turns multi-media content into an 'Article' to work around Mastodon's aggressive HTML filter.  Unfortunately Eugen decided that Mastodon shouldn't show multi-media content at all and turned all Article activities into links. This isn't a problem on other software which just displays the HTML. However- that particular reply didn't contain any HTML constructs which would've been stripped by Mastodon and it should have been sent as a Note. I'll have to review why it was converted.
