Fun fact about King of the Hill:There are two episodes featuring elements of anti-capitalism being portrayed in a manner that isn't immediately the typical 'communism is bad' manner. One features Hank Hill joining an organic grocery coop for high-quality beef, while the other features Peggy joining a roller derby team and pushing the team to become self-owned and managed after their owner refuses to fairly pay them.

In the first example, the not-Walmart corporation is framed as throwing away quality in favour of profit, and Hank working with a coop because of their higher quality, making it successful in the process, until the successful coop is bought out by the very same corporation. Hank's response to this is to expropriate livestock from the farm supplying the coop.

@ialika_lifina This is why I think I could make Hank a socialist as long as I didn't say that word.

@BestGirlGrace @ialika_lifina there's actually kind of a lot in there. A good number of punch lines and episode-wide story arcs have to do with the inherent hypocrisy and un-reality of capitalist ideals. Of course, this would be nearly invisible to a capitalist. I expected to cringe a lot more than I have been.I just wanna ask Bobby what their preferred pronouns are.

@BestGirlGrace @ialika_lifina what's most disappointing to me is Peggy's begrudgingly heteronormative behavior. Every time she gets out, she gets pulled back in by...Hank looking sad??

@ialika_lifina @teslas_moustache Yeah, that episode where she gets so close to telling everyone that she feels trapped in her marriage is so frustrating.
