Solarpunk, to me, is the following:1) Embracing sustainable, renewable, eco-friendly technologies, low and high;2) Adapting to and living in harmony with the local environment;3) Building communities emphasizing the above;4) Rejecting corporatism, capitalism, and colonialism;5) Resisting or outright fighting against, the encroachment of same in the world. As I've said before, it's almost a secular version of Druidry -- the overlap in non-ritual praxis is almost total.

@wraidd It's an hard position to keep. Embracing technology (even sustainable) and rejecting capitalism ?Cyberpunk tagline is "High tech, low lives".I suggest for solarpunks "Low tech, high lives"What do you think ?#cyberpunk #solarpunk@neauoire @drisc

@antharia @neauoire @drisc I fail to see the contradiction and I reject the notion that technology is inherently evil or undesirable. Millions of people have toiled, suffered, and died so we can have the technology we now enjoy -- if we don't use that technology to improve the lives of everyone, then what did all those people die for?An emphatic part of solarpunk is solar power. That's pretty high tech. I see solarpunk as cyberpunk's less-cynical, more optimistic sibling.

@wraidd @antharia @neauoire What Wraidd said sums up my feelings on the topic as well.Technology is built on a shared history, it’s wrong and disrespectful to those that came before for their efforts to be hoarded for personal gain.

@drisc @wraidd @antharia to me it’s the ends of green anarchism via technology as a mean.

@neauoire @wraidd @drisc Do you mean green militancy with the help of technology ?

@antharia @wraidd @neauoire @drisc Hi !I just discovered the term #solarpunk (☀️ ✊ !) by chance on @kropot 's thread. So it is originally a litterary genre, right ? It sounds brilliant, i'm craving for positive resistance imaginaries now :-) What should I start reading ? Any recommandation ?
