I am pretty happy with my terminal only setup so far on the thinkpad yoga. However, part of the reason I decided on the yoga was to read electronic magazines and do some light browsing and reading on the couch. I need to figure out a super lightweight and minimal graphical environment specifically for that use case that I can launch only when I am sitting down on the couch for that purpose.

@kelbot You know graphical environments have some upsides. Like multiple font sizes on the screen at once and none columnar layout.I think terminals in a tiling window manager is a nice balance between being console only and having things that help with text layout and sytling.

@_tj Yeah, that's why I want to setup a minimal gui for when it makes more sense. But sometimes I prefer to just be in the terminal.

@kelbot if you do find a good terminal pdf reader I would love to try one.

@_tjAs in renders PDFs in the terminal as ASCII characters? Or as on displays the actual PDF on the framebuffer?

@kelbot I was already wondering why you bought a Yoga if you only wanted to use terminals on it, because none of its special features are useful for that.

@colomarI do plan on using the yoga features. Honestly though, this is a really good laptop even if you don't use tablet mode. Would still easily be worth the price paid.

@kelbot If framebuffer stuff would work in a tmux session, but I don't think so.A lot of the time I want to check that my changes to a latex document are making it into the render. All I really need is a sense of the layout and the text of the document
