@DetectiveHyde @dashM And also hated by anti-christfags that don't like Christmas.As an ancap sympathizer or a half-ancap or something, I can say that I do not hate the advertisement and am okay with it but I do not care for cola beverages and would prefer to maintain my usual Christmas tradition of forgetting it's Christmas.

@DetectiveHyde @dashM I think it's okay for pagans to eat pudding and cake and pies and stuff, isn't it? Like, you get to do all the normal Christmas stuff except you don't sing Silent Night and you eat mushrooms. That's my understanding, anyway.My family was very religious but we celebrated Christmas as a secular holiday, so we got no singing *and* no mushrooms. Even the wassail and eggnog were non-alcoholic.

@p @dashM Fuck, that sounds austere.Also my stance on it is that the winter solstice was our thing long before they conveniently moved Jesus' birthday by like 3 months to coincide with it, so any of the obvious pagan shit in Christmas (the tree, the yule log, the feasting, the presents, the overall inebriation, the seeing in the new year stuff, about half the carols, so like... Pretty much everything other than the explicitly Christian things. (Midnight mass, the Nativity, the other half of the carols.)But I kind of don't give a fuck, so I do the Nativity anyway. It's cute and it makes my godmother happy.

The adults were mostly ignoring us except to occasionally bring another plate of ham or sausage balls, we decorated cookies or straight-up ate the icing, we overate, grandpa would come tell jokes at the kids' table because grandma could not police his pie intake at that distance.Indeed, I think what you are describing about these traditions is correct; I thought everyone knew this.I think paganism doesn't prohibit you doing a Nativity anyway, right?
