remember when the VR hype craze was in full swing and people were like "VR is better at generating empathy than any other medium" and everyone who had ever read a single book in their lives was like :blobnomouth:

@RedCeres it's really stunning the first time you try it, then the magic wears off and you realize you'll have to design a game for a system based around head and hand tracking where you can't actually physically walk around or touch anything

@thatcosmonaut I've had fun with the brief experiences I had with VR, but beyond the cost there's no way I'm buying something that requires me to kick my family out of the living (two dogs and a three year old) because I don't have the space anywhere else. Which I guess is the kind of hidden class component of VR right now.

@Ashen I noticed that immediately from the start, I was like who the fuck has space in their house for this shit, you're saying this will be a widely purchased consumer product like cell phones? for real?

@thatcosmonaut It was fun being at a games conference last year and hearing multiple mixed reality devs say the money in AR/VR comes from companies and NOT from consumers.
