Fact 1: parhelion (also known as sundog) is a phenomenon in which the sun appears to have a big cruciform halo, as the result of sunlight bouncing in a certain way off ice crystals in the sky. Now imagine both of those happening at the same time! Imagine you live several centuries ago and have no idea what the fuck is going on!There's a bright golden cross in the sky inside a wheel, and it's going OOOOOOAAAAARRRWWWWWAAAAOOOOOAAAAAAAA. Maybe that's the origin of some depictions of angels in Christianity? Some of them are depicted as flaming wheels within wheels.
