       @uranther 7th already had everything i'd need today (mainly batch actions with save-for-web as an end-goal, and occasional photo/image-edit).other apps, inlcuding illustrator and indesign became the main creation-tools.but IRL i stopped at CS6 (it was the last version i had with a student discount), and see no need to update ever since.

       @dym that's valid! CS2 added some new things like perspective or distort (?) which were helpful but not essential.
