Give me yo' eggnog recipes. Alternatively, tell me why you hate this polarizing seasonal beverage!

@ink_slinger I hate it cause my stupid grocery store doesn't have vegan eggnog, or the bean burgers I like, or the veggie dogs I like. This is supposed to be the 'nice' grocery store in town and they have a whole room of beer but they're dropping stuff I like.

@CharredStencil That sucks. I had an almond nog last year that I think was vegan. It was quite good, though a little thin.

@ink_slinger my pro cocktail trick for eggnog is to line the glass with cinnamon smoke. (Light the end of a cinammon stick, hold the glass upside-down over the flame so the glass is filled with smoke)

@Shadejackrabbit Ooooh, interesting! I've never really played with smoked cocktails and definitely wouldn't have thought to do so with eggnog. Thanks for the tip!

@ink_slingerWait, really? People don't like this? It's basically drinking ice cream!

@StaleWhiteBread Right? But the haters would say it's raw cake batter or something (as if that's a bad thing).

Since we're talking about #eggnog, I should probably mention how I love that the French-Canadian name translates to chicken milk (not sure if this is true in other dialects of French). That's just so whimsical and delights me to no end.

@ink_slinger For me, eggnog is a love hate relationship. I love drinking it but I hate the calories.

@Douglewars Same. I made a sugar-free version last year (using low cal/low GI sweeteners instead), but it was still super high in calories because it called for heavy cream and something like half a dozen eggs. This wasn't for a single serving, but it was still incredibly rich and a little too heavy.

@ink_slinger I wasn't sure if "lait de poule" was just a Québec thing so I looked around. As of yet I haven't found a written answer but found many mentions of it in French folklore all the way down to a story about a priest dying from refusing to drink some in 1270. So my guess is that it's the proper term in the root language. Now I want some -_-

@FssOfDeath Died because he refused to drink eggnog. What an amazing story.
