Was ich mir wirklich wünschen würde: ein CW für religionsbedingte Feste. ~~~~~What I would really like to see: a CW for celebrations that are based on religions.

@inAktion This is where I think the CW concept doesn't work. There are plenty of topics I don't want to see, but people don't consider those topics worthy of a CW. Equally, there are probably topics I post that others don't want to see. I take the view that I post the things stated in my profile.Hiding things using tags would be a much better solution. Then the *reader* not the *publisher* gets to define what they want to see.In a way the Mastodon Web UI has this facility, already.

@fitheach Using a # would be ok, too. But they neither use a # nor a CW and that's what bothers me. So friggin' careless. Not everyone is excited about Christmas, Easter, Ramadan or all the other celebrations that are based on religions (or - in our oh so Christian society - the will to spend a fortune on gifts and decorations). Staying away from social media seems to be the only way to avoid this, huh?

@inAktion We are in agreement. I use hashtags religiously (😃), but not everyone does. You could have a double benefit from hashtags: being specifically found as well as specifically hidden. A CW doesn't help with the first one.The Mastodon Web UI has a filters section in Preferences. You could add the word "Christmas", and then any post containing that word is filtered from your view. I seem to remember you use a smartphone app; I don't know if that feature exists in any of the apps.

@fitheach Mastalab app has a filter option and I will try that out. I so hope it works.
