Ewww, gnome-terminal and their forks, like terminator, handle colors incorrectly if you don't configure them explicitly in their config. Which would be okay, if they did not pretend to pull your colors from your ~/.Xresources.This is … pretty disappointing.

@rixx sounds like a bug. Have you filed one?

@muelli Of course I have. I've filed it against terminator, because I encountered it there first.

@rixx linkz or didn't happen!!1If it affects other terminals, and gnome-terminal in particular, then it's more likely to be a bug in VTE, the underlying library.

@muelli Well, yes, it is, but triaging this kind of thing is better done by the devs of the tool.

@rixx Give it some time - it’s only 2018 after all.

@rixx meh, gnome terminal. their code cleanup removed nice features like background images which apparently noone used. obviously i'm that noone. kinda killed our multi-terminal software demo. now i'm rocking urxvt instead :x

@hadez I've recently migrated away from urxvt. One major thing I was missing was resizing on the fly, and terminator (as gnome-terminal) just does that effortlessly.

@rixx yes, the previous demo was using terminator which was quite perfect for that use case.on a day to day basis i'm still using gnome-terminal.luckily for me it was "just" the demo :x
