I think that all income above $100k should be taxed at 100% to start and then every day it gets lowered by $1,000 until all income is taxed completely and there is no money. Anybody who protests should be put to death (I am breaking my vow of pacifism for this)

@Tasnyx There's a condo building that just went up around the corner from me and it is entirely empty but "sold out" in the 400k range and now all the houses in my neighbourhood are going up for sale so i'm going to get evicted in the near future (again!! within a year!!) so that some chinese teen can keep his money in a safe haven or some investment fund can ensure a stable return on real estate

@lunch short cutting this by simply declaring that money has no value! that's right. it's worthless now.

@rotatingskull No, what's happening is that prices are shooting up because real estate and financial services have ballooned constantly since about 1985 and made it impossible to lose money if you're at the top of that sector.

@lunch How about we just establish a decentralized version of communism that actually works and call it a day

@Tasnyx It is literally a worldwide phenomenon at this point. You can't live anywhere in Canada at least on anything less than twice the median income if you're renting and more than that if you want to buy a home. I live in a rusted-out former manufacturing suburb with almost no services or culture and shitty houses are now in the 500k range and rents are above 1k for a single bedroom

@lunch Actually haven't heard about Rojava tbh. That being said I should probably stop talking, because I hate getting political because it always winds up in heated, emotional debates...

@frinkeldoodle I am a Leninist and I think that "decentralized" communism is a good idea that we can do when capitalism is over, for the record. Have a good one and do not bother with any anarchist who tells you about Rojava.

@lunch @frinkeldoodle How about we compromise between anarchism & leninism and do council communism instead?

@Gveskoyeno @frinkeldoodle "council" is english for "Soviet" so lets do it, let's do Soviet Communism.

@lunch @frinkeldoodle Stop being lame. Council communism is its own thing, and leninism just leads to Trump-like people like Stalin getting power.

@lunch @frinkeldoodle So you have literally no idea who Anton Pannekoek, Paul Mattick, Karl Korsch, Otto Rühle, Herman Gorter, Willy Huhn, Cajo Brendel or Sylvia Pankhurst are? Bayerische Räterepublik doesn't ring a bell?

@Gveskoyeno @frinkeldoodle Sounds like something nobody cares about, since you have to list all of those and are assuming i've never heard of them, because most people havent, because in the end they don't matter as much as something like The Soviet Union

@frinkeldoodle @lunch the major problem with decentralized structures is they are not particularly robust in the face of external pressures and usually resort to parochial fragmentation when internal stressors escalate. "Not robust" is how I'd describe it. "Liberal brain spooks" if I'm feeling sassy.

@lunch @frinkeldoodle Sorry, but you are just dumb. You have to at least know of the existence of basic ideologies if you want to be taken seriously.

@Gveskoyeno @frinkeldoodle "Council Communism" is not a "Basic Ideology" it is a splinter inside of a larger umbrella ideology. That, once again, most people don't care about.

@lunch @frinkeldoodle they have their own menace of tyranny too. I'm frankly perplexed by the positive moral qualities people give decentralization as imo it's coming out of idealism and not a reading of history (all histories, not just European)

@RedCeres @frinkeldoodle Everyone has no idea of collective consciousness and assumes everyone in a collective will act exactly like them (good, pure, noble, honest, only breaking social harmony Sometimes)

@lunch @RedCeres So you do have a point Ceres (and you got me; I haven't done a ton of research!) but honestly I really just don't trust power being in any one group or person's hands. I'm in the school of thought that, given a wealth of power, people tend to become rather corrupt, so it's best to distribute power as widely as possible so no one person has much more power than anyone else. How that should be accomplished, however, is still something to be figured out.

@frinkeldoodle @RedCeres I'm a communist, so yes I too believe in a decentralized society run from the bottom up, I just don't believe we will get there by kicking trash cans and asking people nicely to stop doing capitalism near us. This is the main ideological divide between communism and left anarchism

@lunch @RedCeres Honestly, I don't think anything's going to really change until everything goes to hell in a handbasket. That's typically what it takes for humanity to make any decent-sized changes, unfortunately...
