Friends don't let friends buy Beats products. Just say no!

@halfcutskeleton I quite like my Beats Mixr, and I was a DJ and have Sennheiser cans as well. Depends on what you listen to, if the bass-heaviness is appropriate, but they sound great for some things, and have better build quality than anything twice the price.Don't listen to jazz or classical weenies complaining about them.

@mdhughes what year did you get them? Reports of shoddy build quality since they were purchased by Apple. Even before that I did not like them, but it was more the a audio profile and soundstage.I get how a DJ would like the classic pairs, but I was an audio engineer, so I look for very different types of cans.

@halfcutskeleton Probably a year after acquisition, before that I had Beats Solo HD which didn't have flexible arms, not great for environments where I have to pay attention outside. They mostly seem to make wireless cans now, which I have zero interest in, but so far I'm 100% satisfied with their wired. I also had some Sony studio cans which fell apart after a couple years of heavy use; industry standard quality is shit, far below Beats which take a beating.

@mdhughes Yeah, I think you got a pair before the serious quality downturn. They're super focused on releasing low-quality headsets these days.Sony Studios can take a beating, but you probably would have to replace pads pretty often in a DJ setting and they're not really designed for DJ use. The V-Moda M80 might pique your interest, though. That's what a lot of pro DJs I worked with used, including Ed Simons

@halfcutskeleton I haven't seen any evidence of that, and in their current condition it's likely my Beats will keep working for a decade or more. If someone wants new cans, I'd still say go try these out first.
