So thank to @TheGibson I got the inspiration to introduce my 14yo daughter to the movie Hackers. It also reminded me of that movie's only redeeming qualities. The music and a young Angelina Jolie. Lol

@Photocrimes Well... I find some other value in that film... but I get your point.

@TheGibsonIt's actually one of those bad film masterpieces. Having grown up in the age prior to what it's trying to represent, back when phone phreaks were all the rage, I still to this day find it highly entertaining. Just the shot of Jolt cola brings back memories. I actually drank that shit! Lol

@TheGibsonIf you are in your 50s then yes ;-) and if you can believe this, I'm a second generation engineer from when computers so to speak were just a subset of electrical engineering. Dad just recently gave up OS2 but he was the one that told be about this new hobby OS, and now I actually have code in it. Give me a second and I'll post a pick that should bring back some memories.

@Photocrimes You've got a few years on me. But I'm not far behind you... my first computer was at age 5... it was a sinclair learned basic before English.I came into it all at the very tail end of the phreaking scene, but was fortunate to live in an area with an analog phone network until 1993. :)

@TheGibsonThat's awesome, I had a Sinclair as well. Ordered it out of the back of a Popular Science magazine. My uncle worked for Texas Instruments and brought home a TI99 before they hit the market. I can remember him telling me it was going to change the world. Dad work for No such Agency and got me hooked on the free Unix ;-) I too ended up in government servitude.Sadly I lost the interest about 10 years ago. I just burned out. It was all I'd ever done. Retired.

@TheGibsonI still have the CD too. My favorite part is the wav file of Linus telling you how to pronounce Linux. Lol

@TheGibsonI stuck with Slackware forever. I ended up messing with all of them however. I worked quite a bit with SuSE at IBM. I was a big supporter of the ReiserFS until that knucklehead went and murdered somebody.
