       So, family is a funny thing. On my side, we're about average. On my wife's side, we're the black sheep kinda poor part of the family. Like, goddammit, every other wing of the Kellys lives overseas doing some fancy shit. One guy retired at 40 and just travels. One guy is a lawyer and part time judge in London. Me? I help schools tell parents that something went wrong today. That's arguably more valuable, but I'm mostly just kidding myself.

       @ink_slinger well, I think every family has to have one. But I think we've largely structured our social lives to not openly discuss such things. Like we're all supposed to compare ourselves to others, find we don't measure up, but then never talk about that and instead fill the void with consumer goods.So it's a good thing that you're at least willing to interrogate this state of affairs.
