@puffinux dude your instance is terrible and censored my other account. I'd highly recommend bailing to another one.

@jeffcliff @puffinux i don't know whether fosstodon censors, but https://hub.fosstodon.org/code-of-conduct/ is reason enough for me to steer clear of it. there's no reason your rules should be that long lol

@jeffcliff @puffinux my instance rules don't even have a scrollbar unless you have a tiny browser window

@wowaname @jeffcliff The length of the CoC should not make you steer away from an instance. I agree with everything in Fosstodon's CoC and can see a direct reflection of its effectiveness in the content of the local timeline. Fosstodon tries to stay relevant to FLOSS, and manages very well.

@puffinux @jeffcliff i don't understand how someone could agree with subjective rules that cannot be strictly enforced

@wowaname @jeffcliff However, I don't have an issue with you running an instance with whatever CoC you want. You've chosen your method, presumably because you think it's best. I don't mind variation in how instances are run, it's a good thing, but I'm both happy with how Fosstodon is run and believe the rules in the CoC to be fair and positive. There's no reason for me to change instances.

@puffinux @jeffcliff i don't have a "code of conduct", i have simple instance rules that have nothing to do with conduct

@wowaname @puffinux they can enforce them by silencing everyone they disagree with

@jeffcliff @puffinux what i mean is, there is no way to make clear what is enforced, when you have subjective wordingthere are plenty of allusions to ethics, to insults, to oppression in the fosstodon code of conduct, but the fact is, what i consider an insult may not be what you consider an insult. or, i could take something you said that was completely inoccuous and choose to feel insulted by it. im uncomfortable operating under such a ruleset that i cannot judge, for myself, where i would be stepping the line with any given person
