       so this one time i was having a debate with a right-leaning religious coworker about gay marriage, and religion intersecting with governmenthe, clearly trying to throw me off, asked me whether - if my ideal is separation of religion and government - federal recognition of marriage should be abolishedi had to think for a second before answering that yes, that's a perfect ideahe was surprised for a minute and then decided he liked that solution too
