Reviews on the mac mini are coming out and the ssd is soldered to the board. Boo.The bandwidth on the USB-C ports is fast enough that a drive plugged into it will be plenty fast though. My hackintosh is great and all, but I'd love to use 1st party hardware.

current thought is: mac mini for my main personal machine and keep this 2012 pre-retina macbook pro as a mobile computer for forever. If the 2012 dies replace it with a used 2015-ish macbook pro.

@csalzman I have a couple of PowerBook Duos from last century that I thought I'd use for forever. I also have a winter coat that predates them. I still wear the coat regularly.

@Cornellbox @csalzman I had a PowerBook 520c that I was somehow running an ancient wifi adapter card through a few years back. It was not worth it. Holy crap was that thing heavy.

@Erich @csalzman @Cornellbox I have a 2004 Powerbook G4 that I slapped a Linux distro and played around with a few years back. It, also, was not worth it.
