@ThatCrazyDude because it uses my beefy GPU's tensor cores and 24GB of very fast VRAM to process it?I'm not sure what you're getting at, there's no ".exe" in any folders except the venv .\Scripts\ folder. When i run LM studio, with no network, it loads a model off my local hard drive i tell it to, puts it on my GPU's VRAM, and awaits a prompt. If i connect it to the network, i can tell an app on my phone to use *my local openAI endpoint*.yes, i'm 97% sure there's nothing leaking.

If someone were paying me a couple hundred an hour to do this i'd still complain, but I'd have a smile on my face while i did it.

@ThatCrazyDude and if i load a model that doesn't fit in VRAM, it does take "hours", like telling a 70B LLM model "make me a single file 2048 clone i can run in firefox" takes 3.5 hours, because it uses system ram and CPU in addition to the GPU.

@freepatriot as my old friend used to say whenever this came up, something like "We were waiting to see how this Adolf thing played out, with no intentions of getting involved until Pearl Harbor."I'm sure there's a lot of nuance and caveats and covert missions and the like, but that's just been my understanding.I don't think the activities of the nazis were being blasted everywhere. Maybe they were. i wasn't around then.

@koz is that plywood? if so that's why it's doing that. I think the more expensive the plywood the less likely it is to fray / tear like that. But in the general case, it's sharpness of tool and hand

@GrungeQueef https://www.voidtools.com/ and i'll never go back if i'm using windows.for linux there *was* find, mlocate, and, in a desperate pinch, rg or ag (ripgrep or silver surfer).I don't think everything indexes file contents (probably doesn't by default), which is something that was a cute proof of concept in winXP (or 2k? i don't recall). on my machines searching for files on 2k/xp_x64 was real quick but content search was hit or miss and easily 100 times slower (20+ seconds vs 200ms)
