(For all anyone knows, the goal of the people freaking out about it was to try to prevent the admins from organizing responses to CP.)So it turned into a headache, it was shut down, and then there was a much less formal list of people to DM, so there was no real accountability or transparency.

(Fetching / and the /instance/panel.html and whatever the Misskey version is.)Keyword detection would be annoying and fiddly, but it would actually be interesting to implement some kind of k-means clustering for peer lists, though. The issue is Mastodong: when they *block* an instance, they either add it to or keep it in the peer list, to avoid blocks being easy to detect. On the other hand, that only makes Mastodongs look like they're associated with instances they've blocked, so that'll bother them but only because they get associated with instances that their software lies about being associated with.

I noted that instances should be "marked" (tagged) when the peer list is small enough for that specific reason. How small is a question I don't have the answer to.If you would want to make it even more safe, you could take the instance the new one got indexed from into account. Chomo instances tend to be found through other chomo instances as they don't talk to the rest of the world that much. It isn't a good metric for tagging instances on it's own, but as a metric in aiding the overall likelihood of a chomo instance, I think that could work.
