@csb I've lived on V4V for over 18 years. Your comment is uninformed and simplistic. Why do people think that "celebrities" have it easy monetarily or don't know what "normal" life is like?We pioneered this entire concept only to see it struggle through changes in legislation, providers, tenological deprication and jihadi-like "sovereignists" who chased away many normies by constantly harping on kyc, keysend and self hosting. So yes, it's amazing any of this is still working at all.

@csb @adam @Vox it seems you have already played with the Alby Hub wallet some months ago. You still have to update your feed to use your node in the value tag.To receive lightning payments your node has to be online. Thus it is not practical to use a desktop PC. You can use any server (cloud or home). Alby also offers hosting.

@csb @adam @Vox In the early days Alby ran a node for you, but now you have to own your own (just as you own the RSS feed for example)We do our best to make it easy and usable. If you don't like it you should use something else.

Request failed with status code 400") boils down to Alby Hub failing to authenticate or communicate with your underlying Lightning node (LND). Alby Hub relies on LND for all wallet operations (like generating invoices for channel opens or linking extensions), but something in the config or connection layer breaks, turning it into a loop where the app can't "unlock" or query the wallet properly."

@Vox @csb @adam sounds to me like you try to do the most complicated setup with things that are not needed (like syncing the chain), following some AI answers(which are probably problematic if not reviewed/understood) and all that even though you hate tech. :)are you sure you want to do that? I am sure you’ll continue to have problems with LND and a raspberry pi.just Alby Hub would be easier…🙈but we can go step by step if you want.

@Vox @csb @adam if you want LND in your pi:1) is LND installed and running and synced?normally you do that on the command line with lncli I guess. - how did you install LND?2) if synced. then we go to alby hub. how did you install Alby Hub on that raspberry pi?(and again, I doubt you will be happy with a pi+lnd+albyhub at home setup.maybe ask here if somebody has a “sub wallet” on their node for you.)

@bumi @csb @adam I never WANTED to do any of it. I want to podcast though (I do love the performance part!), and very kind and helpful people who already podcast V4V (and I LOVE V4V for totally other reasons) said hosting my own node was the way to go. And MAAAAN I'm so tired of subscriptions nickel-and-diming me! It can add up FAST. I mean, it's a great hobby and all, but it's the gift that never stops taking. But I can't even get off the ground. No progress for days/weeks. I'm STUCK on...

@adam @csb I think calling "those people" jihadists is overly simplistic. The only thing they drove artists away from was half-baked running-with-scissors deprecated bitcoin mayhem. There are v4v platforms out there like Bandcamp that are proper accoutable businesses that avoid the whole RSS/lightning mess while still providing value by hosting and processing payments for the same ~10% wavlake takes.What are we upset about? Which artists specifically have suffered from "jihad"?

@dave my celebrity remark was about detachment from reality by AC saying that he’s happy that anything works at all while podcasters suffer - example of Lady Vox who has husband, Pomeranian & 3 kids & lives in boondocks Alaska with dodgy internet. I don’t @ AC because he didn’t want and reality is that Alby is too complex nowadays and Alby doesn’t allow withdrawal of funds from old accounts and that some simple solution like fountain account in splits should be offered by Podcasting 2.0

@bumi @csb @adam The Lightning node says "running" at the top. But there is nothing in the cards. No sats, no activity. The bitcoin node also says "running". I think so. I followed the directions . When I say I installed umbrel on my computer, I mean I don't have external keyboard, mouse, or monitor for Pi. I think that's called "headless".

Lighting node, Bitcoin node, and Alby Hub all installed within Umbrel.I needed something that would run 24/7 regardless of traveling or (all too common) power outages. @Vox @csb @adam did you remove those numbers there, or is it still loading? how does the bitcoin core app look like? is it synced?if you want to use Alby Hub with LND you have to make sure Bitcoin Node is synced (share a screenshot) and LND is properly running.

@bumi @csb @adam I haven't removed anything on Lightning node. I'm not sure if it's still loading, but it's been like that since I installed it. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it to no avail. So maybe it is still loading, but after several days, I doubt it will ever load. Here's what my bitcoin node looks like. There was a power outage while it was syncing, but the sync took ten days, and where I live in Alaska, there will never be a ten-day period with no power interruption.

@weeniewawa @bumi @csb @adam Yes, I'm not fond of power disruption, but it's the price we pay to live in paradise. I'll take a weekly power outage over heavy traffic and dense population any day. But I may need to invest in a BIG battery bank (4 figures at LEAST) to do this. That's how much I despise humanity en masse. A person is lovely. People SUCK. I pay every day to avoid people-overload. Thank Light Alaska hasn't been discovered by most. Yet.

@Vox @bumi @csb @adam As long as the bus or subway doesn't take them to you, you are safe for now. Plus AK is like the old west to most and they are unprepared if the grocery store is out of milk. I just had 2 of the largest home solar batteries installed and they are not at all the long lasting solution they bragged about. Short 3-4 hour outages should be fine.

@weeniewawa @bumi @csb @adam I have a small gas gen for fridge and lights if the outage is long, but it's usually an hour or less. However outages are not infrequent. If I wanted to REALLY secure the power, I'd need some deep-cell batteries. They aren't cheap, and need to be replaced every few yearsI used to grow a certain crop up here before it was legalized, so I'm quite familiar with what it takes to have perpetual power. $$$$$$
