       @MummaBear @waltercool @blitzed US is the same too, we invented the requirement and forced it on the world's banking system. It just varies by how risk averse the particular bank's lawyers are as far as exact amount they think is at risk of going over 10k or being for illegal purposes.

       US also has SARs (Suspicious Activity Reports) started back during the W Bush days. If you keet your withdrawals under $9k, it wouldn't trigger them. I think that's how they got Eliot Spitzer, cause he withdrew over $10k to pay for a hooker.

       @djsumdog @MummaBear @blitzed @waltercool CTRs and SARs are different but sometimes related things. Both predate Bush, but Patriot Act expanded what was required to be reported.
