Pinging the electronics hive mind...A new Shenzhen-based electronics parts seller called LCSC has started coming up in my searches. Their shipment fees are below Digikey and Mouser (to Germany) and they seem to have the chips that my go-to native German seller (Reichelt) notoriously lacks. What is your experience with LCSC?

Exciting news! I recently joined compost.party, the solar-powered server that was an Android phone in a previous phase of its life. Neat generative plants will soon be coming to my page at https://twilliability.compost.party/Thanks @computersandblues and @paupowpow for running this awesome #permacomputing project!

Some things you carefully design. Other things you just figure out as you go.

Test fit of the latest cut is a success. (Read: it is within abominable tolerances, and I don't have the earth minutes for another pass to reduce them further.)Parts will now be glued irrevocably in place.

BTW getting these clamps has been the single biggest boost to my building game. Here I am going a bit overboard with them, using them while gluing a sanding block.(Making sanding blocks has been the second biggest game changer)

Found a 1987 Samsung color TV on the street in Neukölln yesterday. Needs careful cleaning inside, but it works! The stories this device might have seen in its almost 40 years...

I'm low-key considering a digital detox experiment: specifically, not carrying an internet-connected smartphone around during the day.Does anyone have experience with this? What was easy, what was hard? What were the surprises? My motivation is twofold: mental health; and to test how realistic it is to remove captive tech from one's life.

Is there a way to follow a thread on Mastodon? Ie I'd like to see all replies to a specific post in my timeline, including from accounts that I don't follow.

Masking tape + laser cutter stencil experiment complete.Too much bleed at the edges. Can it be improved by pressing the remaining tape down after uncovering the paintable shapes? Would it be better if I go easier on the paint? Use spray instead? (Though I'm attached to the brushing on.)
