@ajroach42 every less bad browser I know of fails at the task of being a modern browser in some way or other.I think perhaps the problem is the modern internet.

I'm viewing that office tomorrow. I don't know what I actually should ask them? What is there to ask about exchanging a relatively small amount of money for a 100sqft room? The only thing I can think of is asking them if the internet connection is WiFi only or if there's a working ethernet connection.

I'm looking on streetview to figure out where we can park when I'm moving my desk and shit in. This is going to be a very "interesting" experience, because it would appear the answer is "haha fuck you"

I think the move is to, if possible, do the move in late at night when parking a hilux and trailer in the no parking zone outside won't actually cause any significant issue.

I extracted a (physically disconnected) hard drive from the chassis of my running server so that I can set about doing something very silly suggested by @RussSharek

Here we go! What I've been working on this past couple of days! (I'll admit that most of the work was done by my computer)It's a supercut of every time the word "fuck" was used during the run of Open Stage. The idea came from @RussSharek after I mentioned I had a few pages in my notebook from editing Open Stage for #NETV which were just entire pages of swear words and timestamps from censoring them for airing.I hope you enjoy it, though I doubt you will find it as satisfying as I do after all of this work!https://communitymedia.video/w/dTVeCutu4aAPzeGo7BFLoZ

@RussSharek I just thought of a sillier word than any of those to do..."The"I fear that this may take some time to process.

Terrible news! Running videogrep looking for "the" in 185gb of video has caused my laptop to run out of memory and terminate the script after running for over 5 hours.

@RussSharek I'm sure you could engineer some sort of device (made of more food) to clean that up

@mouseless I will never cease to be amazed at humans' ability to discover something, then shove it everywhere before we really know much about it. Then spend decades going "oh yeah, we put some of that bad stuff here didn't we?"

@RussSharek I have exactly one song that can reliably make me cry. It's Sunshine on Leith by The Proclaimers. It was played at my dad's funeral.I can't say I ever heard him listen to it when he was alive, though he did go to school with the twins from the band. That's a fact that I think he was more proud of than he ever let on.A couple of weeks before the funeral, just after he died, his car needed to be brought back from the scene. I remember vividly the police telling us they could drive it back for us, but I knew that for my own closure I needed to drive it back myself. A very kind senior officer drove me to pick it up, and offered to stick with me on the drive back but I declined. When I started the car I checked to see if there was a CD in the stereo, there was, a burned copy of Green Day's American Idiot. Seemed fitting, as Billy Joe Armstrong lost his dad at a young age too. I drove a long-ish route home, getting nearly two whole plays of the album, driving past places I had memories with dad. When I listen to it now I can very clearly picture that drive. I consider it to be my last day with him by my side.I suppose what our point is, is that music can be very powerful.

@SocialGaff I love computers, sometimes. It took me til last year to realise that I *can* actually write shell scripts and other code, I just thought I couldn't because of reasons.I do also enjoy using tools designed for use at scale to run my silly little toy infrastructure though.Admittedly, I do get angry at The Computer sometimes. Just ask @betkabot how many times I've shouted a stream of expletives at the computer, then moments later happily said "oh i fixed it!"

@SocialGaff @betkabot @RussSharek I sometimes wish I had someone to go to and say "help, i borked it!!" but i think i'm the only person i know who is this far down the particular rabbithole i have chosen to follow. The other week I found myself wedged in an uncomfortable position with my back against a radiator because I needed to poke at the local console of my truenas server, i was overheating from both the radiator and server farts, and i had two cats clambering over me. Somehow I have never felt so much more or so much less of a proper sysadmin.
