With my Parkinson's, I only do follow backs at certain times, & usually in bulkWhat this does is increase my timeline activity &my old-timers, people I followed for a long time, and interact with, get lost in the new hustle and bustle of the timelineI try to break it down to lists, so, If I haven't interacted this could be why. Remember the lockdowns? Some still are lockdowned.Due to my rare disease, for a decade before the COVID lockdowns, I was homebound. For the five years preceding COVID, I was completely homebound. I still am.During and after the COVID lockdowns, I received more empathy from friends, family and even medical providers because they got to experience the lifestyle of a person homebound. They experienced the bad, the good, the lonely. Learned how to make a lifestyle out of the situation and learned how to hide the intermediate sadness of it to protect others in their circle from the depressive feeling of lockdown.Now that the lockdowns are over, and people are free to responsibly socialize again, I hope people don't forget there are millions of people homebound, some in their own circle, and make some effort to be more than a passing participant in their lives.

@gcluley They just gave everyone on Medicare new numbers because it used to be your Social Security Number and if fraudsters got that, they could milk Medicare for services and products not rendered. When is Congress going to forbid the use of SSA numbers for anything other than official government identification esp for SSA / CMS and affiliate programs/business only. They should make Corp America come up with a different system.

I nearly shook my head off reading about that current Congresswoman from Texas who entered an assisted living facility due to dementia months ago and colleagues in the House knew. Beyond Trump, we don't have a functioning government and probably haven't in a few decades. I replied to a post re Denny's and the hours spent there in college earlier. That made me think about another restaurant in my college town. A "pay what you can" restaurant.For decades before I went to college in the 90s, a little old lady had a restaurant that was attached to her home. She was in her 70s by the time I got to college. It was like a large cafeteria style addition to her home that seated around 75 people. Many moons before, she started cooking meals for hungry and poor college students in Appalachia. At some point, she made it a "Pay what you can" restaurant. It was home cooked, real food. The only drink was water, coffee and tea.I remember eating many meals there when I was in college. Sometimes I had very little to pay, sometimes I had more and overpaid the suggested price.There was no cashier. You went through the line, got your food, ate and on the way out there was a "Pay what you can" wooden box.Many locals of all ages ate there because the food was so good, not just hungry college kids. It was open from like 11am to 4pm. Many students would step in the back and wash dishes, by hand, for 15 minutes or so after eating.There was no loitering allowed, it wasn't a study hall, etc. There was no religious angle. It wasn't a "soup kitchen." After you ate and you left.That always made an impression on me and actually was the first step into having a progressive, compassionate political stance.

@gcluley Question... Is this "pulling the plug" to the connection to the world, or are internal networks down, too. Crudely, and this is just a layman comparison, consider accessing the world the WAN and websites and domains within Iran LAN.Simpler way, we've all experienced, did they unplug the nations cable internet modem connection and country's LAN router, too.When my WAN is down, I can still connect to my local servers and LAN servers.Can they just not reach the WAN but can internal websites, or is everything down?If it is just connection to the world, I'd bet Israel has capabilities to still muck with internal domains from within the "LAN."

@Mastodon I will donate to Mastodon development but I won't donate funds that are mingled in to run Mastodon.social. Is there an option where donors can donate exclusively to the development side and those funds be used only for development. I've heard others offer the same sentiment.@mellifluousbox
