@nextcloud they should go for open source and spend money building an eco system of services, customisations/integrations and support to fit their needs and thus stimulate innovation and growth in their local economy. They should not do it as a "look it's free" thing. The free is for freedom/sovereignty, not for gratis.

@_elena @EUCommission this post got (when writing this) 865 stars and 694 boosts, which is very nice. I'd also like us to give the commission credit for posting on Mastodon. 👍If we want to help them further we can provide feedback and ask for this change at the bottom of their page where it says "give us more feedback". @gael @e_mydata @murena I'm a big fan. I use eOS every day many hours on my Fairphone. I gladly contribute via Patreon. I recommend eOS everywhere and to everyone.But you can't use PayPal for payments and X slapped on to the Patreon page. Makes me sick to my stomach. Please switch those options. They are US big tech and stand for everything I try to avoid by using eOS. It feels like being punched in the gut that you're using that.#decolonialization #digitalindependence #digitalsovereignty

I still find it weird that a) you registrer different accounts on Mast, Pixelfed and Loopsb) everything winds up in the Mastodon feedc) pixelfed and loops content is consumed in Mastodon as if they were microblog posts, you can't tap through and open them in their proper app and contextd) there's no way of knowing if a post is from pixelfed/loopsI would like shared content from pixelfed and loops to open in the respective app when you tap. #pixelfed #loops #mastodon

@Tutanota @orangefloss I actually felt Proton has a more "slick" product, but you guys are on Mastodon and they're not and you create amazing info material and blog posts, so I switched to Tuta. I've failed to get others around me to join though because tuta.com is a very unattractive domain name in Sweden. "Tuta" in Swedish is a car horn of the types clowns in the circus use. So they go for Proton...

@waldschnecke I switched to #Fairphone in May '25 from iPhone. Super satisfied. Can run all apps that I need (banking, public transport etc). And its cool that it's easily repairable (haven't needed to repair though). But make sure to get #murena #eOS preloaded. Then you get a phone from a NL company and a phone OS from a FR company. (Inside components and assembly from Asia, but that's hard to avoid unfortunately.)

@waldschnecke there is an issue with voice to text in eOS. It communicates with Open AI and is on by default. You can turn it off though. And hopefully it will be refactored in a coming update to be off by default and with a proper warning (cc: @gael @murena 😉 👍🇪🇺).But you should know that in advance, some people are very upset by that. I personally never use VTT.

@gael @waldschnecke @murena I see. I've misunderstood the discussions. Since I don't really use it I haven't looked into it. But as you know all too well, this keeps being mentioned again and again, which is a pity for a great product. So if one can do things to take the edge off that argument, one should. Make it super clear that it's off etc in the actual UI design. So no one can make claims that its hidden and "leaking". It's a pity for this to cloud peoples perception.
