After a windfall in 2021 I made a lot of small investments while trying to figure out a proper investment plan, and eventually made a spreadsheet to compare accounts. @sinituulia I’ve never been able to think of what I want to do in terms of jobs. In 2nd grade writing stories with my best friend about our stuffed animals I wanted to be a writer. In high school performing in musicals I wanted to be a dancer/actor/singer but spent my time at home programming computers. After flunking out of my first attempt at college (double in Dance and CS) I ran away with the circus and did odd jobs until I accidentally got a “real job” as a network admin1/?

@sinituulia 🧵 The first time I really thought about what I want to do with my life was when I started getting unsatisfied with that job not being challenging enough, and eventually deciding I’d rather be working on software that simulates physics & engineering, which led me to make a 2nd attempt at college which ended up being a triple major in physics, math, and CS (another kind of triple-threat?). But after that I couldn’t afford to take my time job hunting,2/?

@sinituulia 🧵 so now I’m a Software Engineer working on an order processing system. I’d like to try to get back up on a trapeze or to work on software tools for math and physics, but now I have health problems that make that too much to do on top of having to work for a living.I guess that’s really “all of the above” for the poll, but I really hate that we’re all basically required to do things rich people want in order to survive.3/3

@bleeptrack I dunno about iconic, but the one I want to see is the old two wires with “claws” to go under the head of the screw to connect to pre-HD TV tuner inputs, for antennas or game systems.There’s also the coaxial plug for cable TV, PS/2 plug, other miniplugs, centronics with the things for the latch, 8P8C (it’s not RJ45, or do both and see if anyone can tell them apart), RJ11, the connectors for analog stage lights, 240V power, ATX power (etc), molex, SATA, “PATA”, …
