@mastomememakers I feel like #Fediverse need some killer app to really kick on. That may be just a slicker, more focused version of #Mastodon. Otherwise all the other small great projects happening here, will over time, add up to make a big community.

@fediversereport Since day one, Zuckerberg has been worried someone might steal his social media crown. Probably because Facebook was stolen by him in the first place. It's in their DNA to look out for what is next and to try and dominate that space, either through buying the company (Instagram Wattsapp) or investing in stuff like the Metaverse. This interest in the Fediverse is part of that same pattern. This image is from the original "little red book" created by Facebook for employees.

@_elena This is excellent and something I have been saying for a while.If anyone feels the need to use one of the Corporate Social Media Platforms, just make sure you are always pointing people back to sources hosted on the #SocialWeb or similar. Also put in your Bio "You can mostly find me on Mastodon here....." or similarThere are lots of reasons why people might still want/need to be on those platforms but none of them should stop us trying to build something better.
