       I don’t understand how Worf was able to just take off and go look for his father and this rumored Romulan prison somewhere nearby DS9 in TNG’s Birthright. 
In Redemption he has to resign his commission instead of being allowed an “extended leave” of absence. Did he just sneak away from Picard, the Enterprise and his duties? What the heck were he (and Ronald Moore, the writer) thinking? 
Totally don’t get that.#StarTrek

       @gedeonmI think DS9 has very different management than a starship.Also, in Redemption, Worf was getting involved in an internal war in the Klingon Empire. Very politically hot. Picard would be trying to avoid any implication of Federation involvement.Finding the Romulan prison and even springing a prisoner would be much less likely to start a war.
