When visiting my grandmother during the Cold War, fighter jets flying overhead so low you’d sometimes duck involuntarily, making you cover your ears and all conversation impossible, was a frequent occurrence. Now Germany is reopening those areas for low flying practice again. It was not fun then, it won’t be fun now. But probably just as necessary. Humanity is stupid.https://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/bundeswehr-uebt-tieffluege-diese-regionen-sind-besonders-betroffen-a-1221b445-5d1a-4a9e-9855-8a7448fdbd5d (in German)

@j12t I still remember how the US Army regularly conducted low flight training behind our house in the Fulda Gap. Totally fascinating as a child. Worrying as an adult.

@sturmsucht Yep, and our walks through the woods we found US MRE's all the time -- including dried milk, not something we otherwise knew.
