RE: https://fosstodon.org/@keepassxc/115520210801552443am ghastly disappointed. i’ve used #KeePassXC since it forked from the original KeePass.if you aren't developing the LLM itself and are not running it in your servers, then no, there is nothing transparent about using techbros AI. MS is shoving CoPilot everywhere, to not only take away users tech independence. “AI” chatbots are the perfect encryption backdoors fascists & kakistocrats have been asking for decades.i use KPXC because i trust you. if you now trust MS, i can’t trust you anymore.

@blogdiva There are no AI features in KeePassXC, so there’s no encryption backdoor. But we wrote that in the article.

@keepassxc @blogdiva I think the blog post is adequate. I've relied on KeepassXC for years now. Part of my workflow.

@keepassxc @blogdiva but there is LLM generated now, right?

@f4grx @blogdiva There is a small percentage of checked and tested code that was generated by an LLM.

@keepassxcThe question is: should you open the Pandora box? The question is ethical, technical and societal. Where is the red line, where will it be in the future, who (and what) will be in capacity to make it shift?I was thinking of migrating from Passman in Nextcloud to KeepassXC with Syncthing. I'll wait.@blogdiva

@canleaf @f4grx @blogdiva They don’t even have a public code repository, but you do you. Thank goodness there are choices for everyone.

@keepassxc@fosstodon.org @canleaf@mastodon.social @f4grx@chaos.social @blogdiva@mastodon.social You think saying something snarky like this here would not make the people you mentioned (or bystanders) trust you less?

@Orca KeePass is a fantastic product with an impeccable track record. But you should adjust your own trust model. For all you know, KeePass’s entire code base could be vibe coded and you’d never find out (I’m sure it’s not, neither is ours). There’s also no public record of any kind of code review, human or AI. The point is, it’s weird to trust one over the other here based on the little data you have.
