constant pin entries on the phone are annoying, and biometrics seem unreliable (i tried fingerprint sensor on the fp5 for a while and it didn't work for me) and unsafe. is there a better way that i'm missing out on?

@mntmn Apple Watch seems quite convenient? It is unlocked with a PIN once after you start wearing it, but can be used to unlock your phone for as long as you keep wearing it.The implementation is not perfect, and tied to a single manufacturer's products. But conceptually I like it; almost like a kind of wireless ubikey.

@mntmn There used to be a way to unlock Android with NFC but Google seems to have disabled this. However, there are some things you can do: https://support.google.com/android/answer/9075927?hl=enYou can add trusted places or trusted devices to Android and then you need to unlock your phone only once.

@yosh ah yes, a wireless body worn key that can be turned on/off with a pin sounds good

@mntmn I turn off my lock screen entirely. It just isn't worth it to me. I don't use banking apps as a result. I don't really like banking anyway. I carry a credit card.Occasionally an app will insist I set a pin to do something. I try to avoid those apps. E.g. ford app requires a pin set to share an invite via email. But then lets me turn it back off. It is all user hostile. Mostly all security theater too.

@mntmnFingerprint is not generally unsave.Im really happy with the one on my fp5. I dont know how save it specifically is but it works 99 percent of the time.It might be due to anatomical difference or you got lemon?

@mntmn grapheneOS has a two-factor unlock feature. Allows you to use either (long) pin/password, or fingerprint plus (shorter) second factor pin.
