       kind of cursed! (but it's just waydroid, which is... extremely snappy nowadays? i.e. it's a container for android running on the linux desktop, like an app for running android apps)

       seeing the play store on the desktop and realizing how jarring it is to see all this AI and ad/crapware makes me wanna wear a hazmat suit oof. when i enter "adobe" there are like _3_ different AI apps from adobe, whatever happened to the computer industry...

       @zetabeta sure, but i think the only interesting thing about this whole experiment is giving people who are forced to use certain closed ecosystem apps (for work for example) some options on our devices. and i'm interested if any of my banking apps work (doubt it though because of safetynet). i think open source wise i'm covered with linux :D (or are there any very interesting android apps that don't have linux equivalents?).

       @mntmn @zetabeta I think emulating hardware is a possible interesting application. Say, define a software camera that is a live capture of a rectangle of the computer screen and tell Android that it is a live shot from a phone that an app would accept as if it was live video from a physical phone. In this case you may still be interacting with proprietary software but it might only be server-side on a website.

       @mntmn I hear you, but I also think it's worrying that smart use of AI drowns in all the marketing BS and stuff. It should not a be a binary discussion if AI "is good or not".
