The men who run Big Tech have always wanted to “enshittify” their services—to shift as much as they can from users, workers, suppliers, and business customers to themselves, EFF’s @pluralistic writes in Communications of the ACM. Unions are an antidote. https://cacm.acm.org/opinion/tech-workers-versus-enshittification/

@eff @pluralistic I just fixed (hopefully) a cookie setting issue with google - had been getting lots of youtube ads for some outfit named craftcloud after trying that site once. I wanted to 3-D print something for use at home. The problem? They said something (+ shipping) would cost $40 or so, But when I tried to complete the transaction, the price went up to over $180 because of some minimum order crap. My reaction? Bye-bye. I wanted a simple transaction, not game playing.

@effIt's called optimizing the profit. Profit up, costs down. And if executed correctly you can do that to a captive "customers" and "partners" who are basically helpless while they lose. That's how capitalism is supposed to work, not that irritating propaganda talk for the peons about fair competing on the market.@pluralistic
