We took for granted that at least our tech bubble would understand what the Google Decree means for Android, #FLOSS and freedom. Unfortunately we never saw the uproar we were expecting and people just shrugged it off taking for granted that "nothing changes".@marcprux great #FDroid post brought the issue into the light, waking up developers, users, media and (we hope) concerned authorities to the immense danger the newly proposed gatekeeping controls Google wants to add.1/3

F-Droid contributors have already translated the English post into Bahasa Indonesian, Português do Brasil, Українська and 繁體中文. If you wanted to distribute the link and language was a barrier, maybe now you can do it in your native one. @fdroidorg I don't quite agree that there was no uproar, but the bubble is tiny.That said, the way to prevent this is through regulation, and EU regulation is probably the most viable lever. If that can be applied proactively is beyond my understanding. I am quite sure that EU authorities are aware of the situation and will tackle this. After all, after forcing Apple to allow alternative App stores, some sense of accomplishment and pride should carry them forward.What I actually know is that EU parliamentarians are already getting emails on this topic -- but as of now, the interested and competent community is still small.On the personal side, I'll probably need a second phone in the future, running degoogled Android, as I'll not be able to run some apps I need on a non-googly phone
