We've just fought #ChatControl - now Ireland ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช wants its own backdoor law. ๐Ÿ”“ But we, together with ~40 orgs, are saying no.#NoToBackdoors ๐Ÿ’ชRead our open letter to Ireland: ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.globalencryption.org/2025/10/open-letter-irish-communications-interception-and-lawful-access-bill/#backdoor #encryption #privacy #security

@Tutanota Define 'good guys'.The people who want them have a worse history than the people they want to stop.

@Tutanota The fact that you can't really control the front door is enough reason not to open another.

@Tutanota What kind of people are these who simply refuse to understand that a backdoor is a really stupid idea? Apparently, some of them are seriously in favor of a surveillance state. Presumably, they assume that it could never affect them personally.

@Tutanota Thank you. As an Irish citizen I already objected to ChatControl by writing to every Irish MEP. I will certainly object to any attempt to introduce any back doors. I do wish, however, that people would stop saying "the EU" or "Country X" wants to do things when the reality is always that some politicians want to do so--and are very likely not to succeed. Ireland doesn't even have a security clearance process for access to govt information--which should be a higher priority.

@Tutanota Considering the past and present child abuse problems in Catholic Eire the Rialtas na hร‰ireann or government maybe hoping to catch some of the most prolific abusers, past and present, on the Planet. members of the Catholic Clergy, Monks Nuns included..History I know of no other country with hundreds of unmarked graves where Convents and schools buried babies and children male and female that they misused mistreated then killed.I do think Chat control is a vile, Orwellian idea
