Yesterday Substack reached unicorn status (1 billion dollar valuation). Yes, Substack, the publishing equivalent of a Nazi bar.2 months ago I collected evidence of what the lack of moderation does: putting unchecked racism, antisemitism & fatphobia out in the open.I collected evidence but I'm not the right person to air this. @_elena cool but... I got 350 subs and my newsletter is free so every platform that asks me more than zero euro it'll a 'cost'. I don't even see it as an investment because I don't think the NL will grow more than that. The solution I see is to transform it in a blog (I already have some hosting space on Infomaniak).

@_elena I don't really understand what you want to achieve by that. The platform is known for allowing and promoting potential harmful content. Besides that, didn't you mention recently that you would like to keep this kind of heated negative discussion off the Fedi?

@_elena I don't feel it like under the rug. What is with other platforms like truth.social, X, Facebook. They are widely known for promoting hate speech as well.

@_elena it has been normalized already. Now we can teach our friends and children to use and build alternative solutions like the Fediverse. I have learned that education and offering real alternatives is a valid way to go.

@_elena 🧡 Thank you for doing your part in reporting unacceptable online content! That is more than most folks would do.(I work for a NGO in the US. We prevent violence against adolescents. Online content causes harm in many ways.) Hopefully Substack has taken appropriate action by now.If not, there might be some other options for reporting the content.
