@libreoffice just wish my university would let us submit assignments in .ODF format, as we can only really use Word... and as a Linux user that means Word Online, which is slow and clunky.

@toran Oh no! Ask your uni why they won't accept standardised formats, and force students to use specific software. It's the exact opposite of what unis should be doing. If they say "We use Microsoft Office/365", point out that Microsoft also supports ODF so they should at least accept documents in that format!

@libreoffice or just maybe They don't have enought money to continue using Microsoft apps ? Just got this in my mind. In poland some hospitals also using Libre and it is really bad to work with. And this is just because they dont't want to buy. Not because of security or other major problems. Just because of money.

Maybe little known: the German federal government was required to be able to process ODF since 2010 already: https://www.cio.bund.de/SharedDocs/downloads/Webs/CIO/DE/it-rat/beschluesse/beschluss_11_2008_download.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&v=2> Das bedeutet,dass die Bundesverwaltung bis zum 01. Januar 2010 in der Lage sein wird,Dokumente im Format ODF zu empfangen, zu bearbeiten, zu erstellen und zuversenden.

@libreoffice oh wow, I know that the Dutch gov is implementing opensource as well (using La Suite and OpenDesk) but MS's office suite is the biggest hurdle to replacing Office365. Maybe this will finally become an option? @opensource

@libreoffice Sorry, but unfortunately it's not quite that rosy. It's only a small federal state that is changing over. I could share the euphoria more if it were one of the big states in the south of Germany. Unfortunately, the city of Munich switched back to Microsoft when they built their German office there 😒

@libreoffice Good news! This fits well into ZenDiS' (Germany's center for digital sovereignity) current efforts to push "openDesk" (an open-source MS365 replacement product, in particular for authorities), which includes Collabora Office.
